Dancing is a social activity where we interact closely with others. To ensure that everyone has a positive and enjoyable experience, we ask all attendees – participants, staff, and instructors – to be mindful of their behaviour and respectful toward those around them.
While we trust that most people understand what is appropriate; personal boundaries can vary and therefore to help create a safe and welcoming environment for all, we have this Code of Conduct.
Code of Conduct:
– Treat everyone with respect and kindness.
– Be mindful of personal boundaries and always ask for permission before starting a dance.
– Communicate openly and listen if someone expresses discomfort.
– Maintain good personal hygiene. Collegiate Shag is an athletic dance and a change or two of shirt will make the dancing experience more comfortable for everyone.
– Wearing deodorant is awesome! But please avoid strong perfumes.
– If a partner declines a dance, respect their decision without question. Remember you are not obligated to dance with someone.
– Out of respect to your fellow dancers do not give unsolicited feedback, even in class.
Harassment, discrimination, or any form of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
This Code of Conduct applies on the dance floor, in workshops, and throughout the event. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in removal from the class, course, or event.
If you experience harassment or feel unsafe at RoffaShag, please bring your concerns to members of the organizing team, who will treat any issues with strictest confidentiality.
We would like to thank HarbourHop and Swing in Rhythm Dance School on whose code of conduct ours is based.
